About

Aetenum is one person. That is the point, not a limitation.

My name is Scott Watson. I am a tenured developer who works AI-accelerated, which means I ship at a rate that used to require a small team, without any of the coordination that a small team spends its day on.

Why one senior person beats a team for this work

Most of the cost in a software project is not the typing. It is the translation. Someone talks to you, writes down what they understood, hands that to someone else, and that person builds what they read. Every one of those handovers loses something, and the thing it loses first is context: the reason behind the requirement, the constraint nobody wrote down, the thing you mentioned in passing that actually mattered.

When the person who understood the problem is the person writing the code, none of that is lost, because it was never transmitted. That is most of the speed. The rest of it is that I work AI-accelerated, which collapses the mechanical part of building without touching the part that requires judgment.

What you give up is scale. I cannot run six workstreams. I do not want to, and a shop that says it can is usually describing six junior developers and a project manager. What you get instead is that the person who decided what to build is the person accountable when it is running in production.

How I actually work

I use AI heavily and I am specific about where. It writes a great deal of the code. It does not decide the architecture, it does not decide what is worth building, and it does not get to be the reason something shipped broken. Those remain mine, and they are the parts you are paying for.

I work in whatever your stack already is rather than moving you onto mine. I have spent a lot of time in GoHighLevel, Postgres, Python and the various APIs that businesses actually run on, including the old and badly documented ones. Choosing tools you can live with after I am gone matters more than choosing the ones I enjoy.

Everything gets documented and handed over as it is built, not at the end. If you cancel, you keep a system you can hand to someone else. Building dependency on me would be good for my revenue and bad for your business, and it is not how I want to work.

What I will not take on

Saying this out loud is cheaper for both of us than finding out on a call.

Work I cannot see the point of

If you ask for something and I think it will not solve your problem, I will say so before building it. If you want it anyway after that conversation, it is your business and your call. But I am not going to build something I think is a waste and stay quiet about it.

Two builds at once on one seat

Splitting the stream is the fastest way to end a quarter with two things at ninety percent and nothing in production. One seat means one thing at a time, and I hold that line even when it is inconvenient.

Fixed bids for undefined scope

A fixed bid requires pretending the scope is fully known at the start. It usually is not, and the pretence gets paid for later by whoever has less leverage.

Managing your staff or your vendors

I will tell you what to ask a vendor and how to read the answer. I will not run your team or sit in the middle of your org chart.

And who I am not for

  • You are shopping on price. There is always someone cheaper and I will not compete with them.
  • You need a fixed bid for a finished app. That is a different product from a different kind of company.
  • You do not control the budget. If you have to build a case for this internally, send me the person who signs.
  • You need convincing that AI is worth using. I build with it every day and I am not going to run that argument.
  • You want a body to manage. A seat is a build stream, not a hire.

Start with a call, not a contract

Thirty minutes. You describe what broke, what it is costing you, and what you have already tried. I tell you whether a seat is the right answer, and I will tell you when it is not.

If you are comparing quotes on price, I am not your cheapest option and I will not pretend otherwise.
